The Land and Natural Resources Program (LNR) at the Institute of the Environment (IOE) - University of Balamand is seeking a motivated and eager candidate with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment for the position of Research Assistant (RA). The duration of the assignment is for 12 months with possibility for renewal.

Responsibilities:

The RA will work in a support role for the IOE’s programs in general and the LNR in particular. He/she will be responsible for providing support to various technical, financial, and administrative matters of the LNR. Under the overall supervision of the Program Director, the RA shall perform the following required tasks:

• - Assist in land conservation project activities
• - Assist the Program Director throughout ongoing projects and contribute to project activities

The Faculty of Engineering is currently seeking applicants at the Assistant or AssociateProfessor level at the Department of Chemical Engineering with expertise in Petroleum and Gas, Catalysis, Biotechnology and/or Chemical Reactions Engineering and Design. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university with a strong research record (h-index) and refereed peer-review publications, preferably in Scopus. Outstanding candidates with expertise in similar areas may also be considered. The successful candidates are expected to develop research programs that complement the existing areas of excellence within the Department and Faculty of Engineering. Candidates are equally expected to actively contribute to the undergraduate and graduate teaching missions and to engage in department, institute, and professional service activities.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES

• - Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and develop both courses and associated labs material
• - Conducting independent research and collaborating with colleagues within and outwith the University
• - Contributing to the review of courses and programs and in assessment, quality assurance, and quality enhancement as needed
• - Securing internal and external funds
• - Student mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels
• - Being actively involved in different services to the University and Community
• - Supporting faculty efforts in students recruitment at undergraduate and graduate levels
• - Supporting students activities

QUALIFICATIONS

• - BS or BE holder in Engineering is a must
• - Master and Ph.D. holder in Chemical Engineering or closely related field are a must
• - Postdoctoral or industrial experience (after PhD) is desirable
• - Previous involvement in European funded projects is a plus
• - Minimum of three years of teaching experience is highly desirable
• - Knowledge of basic educational and research equipment as well as simulation software
• - Strong research records (h index) is highly desirable
• - Exceptional skills for research to develop an innovative, independent, externally funded, and internationally recognized research
• - Strong pedagogical skills and enthusiasm for teaching
• - Strong interpersonal skills and team spirit
