The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Balamand (UOB), Lebanon, is launching a new degree in the field of Optometry and as such invites applicants for full-time faculty appointments in the field of Optometry at the level of Instructor and Assistant/Associate/Full Professor.

Maintenance Helper- Souk el Ghareb Campus

Job Summary
The primary role of a Maintenance Helper is to assist Maintenance Technicians with routine maintenance tasks. These tasks may include but not limited to cleaning, inspecting and replacing parts, lubricating machinery, and carrying out minor repairs. Additionally, the Maintenance Helper supports the identification of potential issues and helps ensure that all maintenance activities are performed safely and in compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities of a Maintenance Helper:

Lab Assistant - Medical Laboratory Sciences – Faculty of Health Sciences

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at the University of Balamand (UOB) is committed to excellence in education, research, and training in the health sciences. As part of this mission, the Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) program provides students with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and hands-on laboratory experience in microbiology, molecular biology, clinical chemistry, hematology, and diagnostic sciences.

To support teaching and research activities, the MLS Department is seeking a dedicated Lab Assistant to oversee laboratory operations, facilitate student learning, and ensure smooth lab functioning. In addition to assisting with practical sessions, the Lab Assistant will actively support graduate students in infectious disease and molecular biology research by guiding them in using lab equipment, conducting experiments, and troubleshooting technical issues. Responsibilities include assisting with molecular and microbiology techniques, ensuring proper use of PCR machines, gel electrophoresis, and other instruments, and maintaining lab organization. Given that most graduate students conduct research after 5:00 PM, evening availability is essential.

Work Schedule
  • - The Lab Assistant will work 8.5 hours per day, with shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, depending on operational needs.
  • - Responsibilities will be shared between the DEK and SEG campuses, with at least one day per week at SEG campus.

Key Responsibilities

1. Laboratory Preparation & Support
  • - Prepare reagents, set up laboratory materials, and organize equipment for practical sessions.

Educational Background

Studio Supervisor - Mass Media & Communication

Lab Assistant /Manager - Issam Fares Faculty of Technology (Souk El Gharb Campus)

The Issam Fares Faculty of Technology is looking for a faculty and lab assistant/manager. This position is based on Souk El Gharb campus.

Role Summary
The faculty and lab Assistant/Manager is mainly responsible for assisting the faculty administration, manage lab operations and activities and assist instructors and students in their work.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • - Assist the faculty administration in its daily activities (i.e., contacting students, preparing files, organizing meetings and events, etc.)
  • - Organizes and directs the daily activities of the labs
  • - Schedules preparation of lab experiments
  • - Stores and maintains adequate levels of supplies and equipment, keeping and updating records of inventory and ensuring proper storage procedures
  • - Maintains equipment in a functional state, arranging for repairs and ordering replacements
  • - Monitors Lab safety measures and establishes necessary procedures and systems to avoid potential hazards. Keeps a neat and orderly work area
  • - Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for maintenance and repairs
  • - Trains students on the correct use of teaching lab equipment
  • - Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books
  • - Stores and disposes of hazardous wastes using safety procedures
  • - Assists Instructors with follow-up checks on quality problems and takes necessary measures to rectify them
  • - Coordinates research activities and assists in recording, compiling and organizing data as required
  • - Coordinates and provides assistance to faculty to develop new experiments and formulate instructional modules for existing and proposed experiments
  • - Performs other duties pertinent to this job as assigned

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • - B. Tech, BS or BE degree with relevant specialization in Computer science, ECE, Robotics or related fields.
  • - Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students and faculty members
  • - Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
  • - Excellent organization and management skills.

We are seeking a motivated and proactive Junior IT Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide technical support and assistance in our classrooms, conferences, and events. Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise classrooms to ensure all technical equipment, including projectors and sound systems, are functioning correctly.
  2. Assist teachers and presenters in connecting their laptops to projectors and sound systems, troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise.
  3. Provide technical support during conferences, meetings, and events, including setting up audiovisual equipment and troubleshooting technical problems.

Technical Assistant - Zeenni Center (Koura Campus)

The Zeenni Center (ZC) for Engineering, Technology and Industrial Research at the University of Balamand aims to serve as the training ground for engineers and technologists from the University of Balamand and other academic institutions, in addition to technical personnel from industry.

The ZC is currently seeking to recruit a Technical Assistant to assist the Center’s Director.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • - Assist instructors and faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) or the Issam Fares Faculty of Technology (IFFT) in their laboratory activities at the Center.
  • - Maintain the good functioning and conditions of Center’s equipment and components.
  • - Undertake tasks to maintain and repair equipment under supervision.

  2. At least three years of technical maintenance experience;
  3. Good interpersonal, communications and troubleshooting skills;
  4. Ability to read technical drawings and survey plans.
