Dr. Elias El Halabi, Director of the Christian Muslim Studies Center at the University of Balamand (UOB), participated on behalf of UOB in the international conference “Towards the Future: Re-thinking Nostra Aetate Today”, held at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome from 27 to 29 October 2025.

This event brought together scholars, theologians, and interfaith leaders to reflect on Nostra Aetate. The landmark Vatican II document played a pivotal role in launching modern interreligious dialogue and fostering understanding.

Representing the World Council of Churches (WCC) as Moderator of the WCC Reference Group on Interreligious Dialogue and Cooperation, Dr. Halabi delivered a speech during the opening ceremony, emphasizing the importance of sustained collaboration and dialogue between Christian and Muslim communities in building peace and mutual respect.

UOB commends Dr. Halabi for his valuable contribution to this international gathering and reaffirms its commitment to promoting interreligious understanding and cooperation.
