Yara El Debs Represents UOB at UNESCO Regional Workshop

On October 15, Environmental Science student Yara El Debs represented the University of Balamand at the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Arab Network Regional Workshop, held at the UNESCO Regional Bureau in Beirut.

In addition to being SDG Brain Lab Ambassador for 2025–2026, Yara serves as President of the UOB Eco Club, and is an active member of the UOB Club for UNESCO, the Photography Club, and several other student societies. Through these roles, she has taken part in impactful projects and community initiatives that promote awareness, collaboration, and social responsibility.

In her presentation, Yara shared her experience in how student-led efforts at UOB connect education with real community impact by engaging the campus community, schools, NGOs, and peers in practical projects that advance the principles of sustainable development.

Her participation reflected both her personal commitment and the University’s dedication to empowering students to lead meaningful change within and beyond campus. This participation also demonstrates the University of Balamand’s active engagement in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals reinforcing its ongoing contribution to national and regional sustainability efforts.
