UOB Summer Festival Brings Joy and Community Spirit to Akkar

The University of Balamand’s Issam Fares Faculty of Technology (IFFT) Campus in Beino welcomed thousands of visitors for the 4th edition of the UOB Summer Festival, a much-anticipated event that has become a tradition in the Akkar region.

With a program full of hands-on activities, music, food, and community outreach, the festival brought people of all ages together. From pottery workshops and children's games to horseback riding and inflatables, the campus was alive with energy. Awareness booths run by local organizations, such as the Akkar Network for Development and the Darb Akkar firefighting team, also helped spark important conversations. There was even a blood donation drive in collaboration with Lebanese Red Cross.

The day was filled with performances from local talents, including the ENOR - Fadi Barbar School, LAMI Conservatoire, DJ Ayman Fawal, and a live set by Imad Yaacoub. Local food vendors offered a taste of the region, while the IFFT Projects Station gave visitors a chance to explore student work and academic innovation ulp close.

“This festival is about more than celebration,” said Dr. Elie Karam, Dean of IFFT. “It’s about connection with our community. I’m grateful to our team—students, faculty, staff, and volunteers—whose hard work and spirit made it all possible. It’s always heartening to see the campus filled with families, neighbors, and friends.”

The University of Balamand remains committed to being an open and engaged presence in Akkar. Plans are already underway for next year’s edition.
