Faculty of Engineering Students Scoop Four 1st Place Prizes at the 12th Conference for Engineering and Architecture Graduates in North Lebanon

On July 05, 2025, University of Balamand (UOB) engineering students earned top distinctions in 4 disciplines at the 12th Annual Conference for Engineering & Architecture Graduates (CEAG 2025), hosted by the Scientific Committee of the Order of Engineers and Architects (OEA) in Tripoli, North Lebanon. Their award-winning projects showcased exceptional innovation, technical skill, and forward-thinking design across multiple engineering disciplines.

The event welcomed several distinguished guests, including Dr. Joseph Al-Hourani, President of the Arab Architects Association, President of OEA in Tripoli Mr. Chawki Fatfat, as well as a prominent jury panel. Among the jury members were Dr. Abdulkader El Mir, Chair of the OEA Environmental Engineering section, and Dr. Wahib Arairo, Chair of the OEA Electrical, Computer, and Artificial intelligence sections, both esteemed faculty members from the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) at UOB. Professor Moustapha El Hassan represented the Dean, Professor Rami Abboud, at the event.

The day began with a tour of the outstanding final-year projects, showcasing groundbreaking ideas and technical proficiency across various disciplines, followed by a welcome note from the Chairperson of the Head of the Scientific Committee of OEA who congratulated the graduates and emphasized their vital role in shaping Lebanon’s future.

The conference concluded with the announcement of the winning projects and the awarding of top graduates in various engineering fields, including mechanical, chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, computer, biomedical, artificial Intelligence, and architecture. The winning projects reflected a high level of innovation where UOB-FOE stood out prominently securing first-place awards in four categories:

Environmental Engineering – Green Project Award
• First Prize: Farah Chaker and Fadi Al Ali (supervised by Dr. Wael Hamd)

Civil Engineering
• First Prize: Georgina Abdallah and Fouad Sleiman (supervised by Dr. Marianne Saba)

Electrical Engineering
• First Prize: Elie Antoun and George Fares (supervised by Dr. Moustapha El Hassan)

Mechanical Engineering
• First Prize: Rachel Mouawad, Joseph Ajhar and Ralph Achkar (supervised by Dr. Jihad Rishmany and Dr. Anna Maria Bayssari)

Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Rami Abboud congratulated the winning students and their supervisors for earning first prize in the four main disciplines that we applied for and commended their commitment, excellence, and the outstanding representation of the Faculty of Engineering and UOB on this prestigious platform as a leading engineering hub for a sustainable future.
