FOE Water Warriors 2025 Competition: Inspiring Youth for a Sustainable Water Future

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Balamand proudly hosted the Water Warriors 2025 Competition, a dynamic and educational event aimed at raising awareness among youth about water conservation and sustainability. Under the leadership of Dr. Yasmine Jabali (Assistant Professor- Civil & Environmental Engineering Department), the initiative brought together bright students from three prominent schools in North Lebanon:
  • - Tripoli Evangelical School (TES)
  • - College Notre Dame du Balamand School (CNDB)
  • - Al Azm School, Tripoli.
Held on May 23, the competition challenged participants through two intense rounds of multiple-choice questions focusing on water resources, sustainability, and conservation practices. Trophies were presented to:
  • - Tripoli Evangelical School (TES) who secured First Place
  • - CNDB School who followed closely in Second Place
To honor their participation, all participants, whether students or supervisors, were awarded certificates of participation at the end of the event.

The event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of LEWAP (Lebanese Water Actors Platform), with special support from Mrs. Jasmine El Kareh, the LEWAP Coordinator, who is also a UOB Alumnus holding a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Sciences. Dr. Jabali commended the students for their enthusiasm and deep understanding of the topic, stating, “It is crucial that we empower our youth with the knowledge and responsibility to protect one of our most vital resources – water.”

Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Rami Abboud praised Dr. Jabali for her outstanding dedication and leadership in organizing impactful initiatives that align with global sustainability goals. He emphasized that Water Warriors 2025 reflects the Faculty’s ongoing commitment to advancing the UN-SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, by promoting awareness, education, and community engagement.
