The University of Balamand (UOB), through its Office of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation (OAWR), participated in the “Lebanese Week of Sport – From Uni to Uni” on September 15, 2026, organized by the Lebanese Federation of University Sport (FSUL).

The nationwide initiative brought together university students from across Lebanon through five torch routes covering the North, South, Bekaa, Mount Lebanon, and Beirut. The routes concluded with a final ceremony at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

As part of the North route, UOB students received the torch from Beirut Arab University and ran from UOB toward St. Famille University in Batroun. 38 UOB varsity athletes, accompanied by OAWR members, joined the final ceremony at the Ministry. Two UOB student representatives also took part in the final North route relay from AUST Achrafieh to the Ministry.

The ceremony welcomed the five arriving torches in the presence of Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Nora Bayrakdarian and FSUL President Mr. Ziad Saade. The torches were brought together to light one large torch, symbolizing the unity of Lebanon’s regions and universities, accompanied by the music of the Lebanese Army band.

The event highlighted the values of teamwork, cooperation, discipline, respect, and university spirit. Through its participation, UOB reaffirmed its support for university sports and initiatives that bring students together and foster a shared sense of community.
