Med x ALBA: Reimagining the Faculty of Medicine Through Interdisciplinary Design

The Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences at the University of Balamand (UOB), in collaboration with the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA) and the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), launched "Med x ALBA: Reimagining the Faculty of Medicine" an interdisciplinary design competition that brought together students from interior architecture, design, and medical education to rethink key spaces within the Faculty of Medicine. The initiative reflects the University's commitment to academic excellence, creativity, and collaborative campus development.

The competition challenged ALBA students to redesign the entrance hall of the Faculty of Medicine building at the Koura Campus and create a modern, functional, and welcoming student lounge. Their proposals aimed to support learning while fostering collaboration, relaxation, and social interaction within an inspiring academic environment.

Five ALBA students participated in the competition, presenting creative and thoughtful concepts that balanced architectural excellence with the practical needs of medical students. Their projects demonstrated originality, functionality, and a clear understanding of how well-designed spaces can enrich campus life.

The Award Ceremony and Final Project Presentations were held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, in the presence of the Deans of both faculties, faculty members, staff, students, and the Director of OSA. During the event, participants showcased their design concepts and shared their vision for transforming the Faculty of Medicine into a more engaging and welcoming environment. Certificates of Achievement were presented to all participants in recognition of their creativity and dedication, while the winning project received the competition award.
