Dr. Dima Issa Appointed to the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS-L)

The University of Balamand congratulates Dr. Dima Issa, Assistant Professor and Chairperson of the Mass Media and Communication Department at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, on her appointment as a member of the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS-L), as approved by the Lebanese Council of Ministers.

This appointment recognizes Dr. Issa’s distinguished academic and research contributions, as well as her continued commitment to advancing knowledge and scientific inquiry in Lebanon.

Dr. Issa holds a PhD from the University of Westminster, an MSc in Global Media and Communications from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an MA in Global Communications from the University of Southern California.

Her research focuses on Arab diaspora, media consumption, identity formation, gender and representation, popular culture, audience studies, new media, technologies, and social networking. Her work also explores how music and soundscapes document political, cultural, and social transformations.

Beyond her teaching and research, Dr. Issa actively contributes to student life as advisor of the Mass Comm. Club and the Femm. Society, mentoring students and encouraging dialogue, creativity, and civic engagement.

Since November 2023, Dr. Issa has been leading the implementation of the Campus Family Support Plan under the guidance of UOB President Dr. Elias L. Warrak, working collaboratively with a team of faculty and staff. The initiative promotes equity, inclusion, and institutional sustainability across the University community. Among its key achievements, the team, under Dr. Issa's leadership, established the University's first lactation room, reinforcing UOB's commitment to supporting working mothers and fostering a more inclusive and family-friendly campus culture.
