The Faculty of Engineering Celebrates its Milestone of the BS ABET Re-Accreditation

On November 27, 2025, the Faculty of Engineering (FOE) at the University of Balamand proudly celebrated a major academic milestone in the successful ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) re-accreditation of all its 5 Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. The ABET re-accreditation was granted from 01 October 2025 until 30 September 2031.

The celebratory evening took place in the heart of the Engineering Complex Building and brought together over 60 FOE faculty and staff members who worked tirelessly to achieve a successful re-accreditation outcome for the special gathering to take place honoring this outstanding achievement. This reflects the faculty’s commitment to excellence in quality education, and in maintaining its international standards.

The event was graced by the presence of UOB’s President, Dr. Elias Warrak, Provost, Dr. Georges Bahr, Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of FOE, Prof. Rami Abboud, and Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Prof. Hanna Nakat, alongside several university directors, whose attendance underscored the significance of this major accomplishment.

Prof. Abboud delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing sincere appreciation to each and every contributor from FOE and UOB who played a role in achieving the ABET re-accreditation under less-than-ideal conditions at time of war in 2024 and unorthodox times between 2020 and 2024. He also presented an insightful presentation showcasing how the faculty has evolved and grown since the previous ABET accreditation of its BS programs in 2018–2019, highlighting progress, development, and FOE continuous improvement to achieve the outstanding result.

In his turn, President Warrak graced the audience with an uplifting and warm speech congratulating the Faculty of Engineering and its Dean for the excellent ABET results, the ongoing success and the inspiring achievements. Dr. Warrak further confirmed his confidence with the excellent leadership at the faculty and affirmed his ongoing support of FOE going forward with its quest for accreditation of its BE programs and its excellent research outcomes.

This ABET BS re-accreditation marks a defining moment for the Faculty of Engineering, reinforcing its position as a leader in engineering education and paving the way for even greater achievements ahead.
