On the occasion of the World Arabic Language Day, students from the University of Balamand and Saint Joseph University took part in a poetry writing workshop (Saba Zreik Session) titled “Language, Homeland, and Identity in Poetry.” The event was held at Saint Joseph University - Institute of Eastern Languages and Literature, North Lebanon Campus, in cooperation with the “Poet of El-Fayhaa Saba Zreik Cultural Foundation,” on December 6, 2025.

Dr. Doreen Nasr, instructor of Arabic 201 at the University of Balamand, opened the first session by presenting poems by the poet Saba Zreik and introducing him and the theme of the workshop. The participating students then recited their poems before a jury that included lawyer Chawki Sassin, Dr. Salma Al-Abdallah representing Notre Dame University–Louaize, and Dr. Maria Nasr representing the University of Balamand.

At the end of the event, Dr. Saba Zreik offered all participants books as a gesture of appreciation for their participation and the poems they presented.
