The University of Balamand (UOB) congratulates Coach Gilbert Nasr, head coach of Lebanon’s U16 National Basketball Team, on leading the squad during the FIBA Asia Cup in Mongolia. A proud UOB alumnus, former varsity basketball player, and former coach of the UOB Junior Men’s Basketball Team, Coach Nasr exemplifies leadership, discipline, and passion for the game. His appointment as national team head coach highlights his outstanding coaching skills and deep commitment to developing young athletes.

Earlier this year, Coach Nasr led Lebanon’s U16 National Team to victory as West Asia Champions, a milestone that reflects his ability to unite and motivate players to perform at their best. Following the championship, he shared: “Lebanon U16 is more than just a team — it’s a National Team with an Identity. A team that fights for Lebanon collectively, putting the ‘Me’ aside. Winning the title proves we’re HERE, but it doesn’t prove that we took it to the next level — that takes time, effort, and commitment. What we promise is that we will not let anyone fight for their country more than us. ASIA, we’re coming to fight!”
