This invitation is a recognition of Dr. Huijer’s global contributions to pediatric pain research and her long-standing dedication to improving pain management for children. Her presentation, titled “A Lifelong Journey – Overcoming Challenges in Pediatric Pain Research” highlighted her work across several countries including the United States, France, the Netherlands, Australia, and Lebanon.

Dr. Huijer’s talk explored her pioneering studies on pain in neonates, children with cancer, and cognitively impaired children. She also discussed the development of pain assessment tools, the impact of cultural factors on pain perception, and the importance of policy development for pain relief and palliative care, especially in low and middle income countries.

ISPP 2025 is a leading international and interdisciplinary conference focused on understanding, assessing, and managing pain in infants, children, and adolescents. It brings together researchers, clinicians, and professionals from fields such as nursing, medicine, psychology, physiotherapy, and public health. With over 600 participants from 43 different countries, the conference aimed to promote collaboration, share the latest research, and improve clinical practices in pediatric pain management worldwide.
