UOB Hosts Inter-University Dialogue on Social Change in the Arab World

The Department of Political Science and International Affairs (PSIA), Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the University of Balamand (UOB) hosted the third edition of its Dialogue Project, bringing together students from UOB and the American University in Cairo (AUC) for a unique exchange of ideas and perspectives on the Arab world in a video conferencing session.

The dialogue sessions took place on April 14 and May 8, 2025 at UOB. This ongoing initiative seeks to promote open discussion among youth on critical regional issues, including identity, culture, minority rights, and the drivers of social and political change in the Arab world.

Students from both institutions came together to participate in thoughtful and engaging discussions as part of a seminar course led by Dr. Fouad Hablouni from AUC, titled "The Arab Revolutions through Arab Eyes" (SEMR.4028). Topics explored during the sessions included sectarianism in the Arab world and minority communities in the Levant.

The Dialogue Project serves as a space where students can reflect on their shared history and diverse experiences while voicing their opinions on the socio-economic and political developments that have shaped the region since 2010. The project’s goal is to empower the next generation of leaders to think critically and engage constructively with complex regional issues.

This collaboration highlights the importance of youth dialogue, cross-border academic cooperation, and inclusive discussions on pressing matters in the Arab world. It also reflects UOB’s commitment to fostering social awareness and encouraging academic and civic engagement among students.
