For the 10th consecutive year, the University of Balamand successfully partnered with Jordan Aircraft Maintenance Limited Academy (JORAMCO) offering its Aeronautical Engineering and Aircraft Maintenance Technology students a unique work-based training opportunity. From April 6 to April 10, 2025, a group of 15 keen students took part in an intensive 5 days training program at JORAMCO Academy in Amman, Jordan.

With over 50 years of experience, JORAMCO Academy is renowned as the region’s leading independent repair and overhaul (MRO) service provider, serving clients across the Middle East, Europe, South Asia, Africa, and beyond. The Academy continues to provide comprehensive training focused on preparing future professionals for the aviation maintenance and engineering sectors.

Accompanied by Mrs. Angela Bitar (Lecturer) and Mr. Boutros Saab (Laboratory Instructor) from the Faculties of Engineering and the Issam Fares Faculty of Technology, the students engaged in technical workshops, explored multiple aircraft, and gained invaluable first-hand insight into the operations of a leading MRO facility. The training allowed them to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world context, enhancing both their technical and professional skills.

The JORAMCO team was highly impressed by the students' performance and knowledge, and expressed strong interest in offering them summer internship opportunities to the participating group. This recognition highlights the quality and preparedness of UOB students and the strength of the university’s industry-driven educational approach.

Sharing her personal experience, Gaia Al Geitani, a Senior Mechanical Engineering student stated: “JORAMCO’s training was such an invaluable experience that would not have been possible without the support of the University of Balamand. It proved to be greatly impactful especially through seeing the courses I had learnt come to life before my eyes and through broadening my knowledge of the exciting world of aviation”. Her colleague Omar El Sayegh, also a senior Mechanical Engineering student, stated: “My experience at JORAMCO made me feel proud and excited, confirming that my academic knowledge at Balamand has real-world value and impact”.

Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Rami Abboud, and the Dean of Issam Fares Faculty of Technology, Professor Elie Karam, praised the students’ delegation and their supervisors for this successful collaboration initiative stating: “As a university, we are devoted to offering our students the chance to grow professionally through engaging work-based learning opportunities.
