​​On the 8th of April 2025, The Department of Languages and Translation at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the University of Balamand, under the initiative of its Chairperson Dr. Maria Nasr, hosted Mrs. Aline Sawaya, Secretary of the Association of Certified Public Translators in Lebanon, for a lecture titled "The Practical Aspects of Legal Translation." The event brought together Dr. Carla Sarhan, faculty members, and students from the department for an engaging and informative session.

In her presentation, Mrs. Sawaya shed light on the practical aspects of legal translation, explaining the process of joining the Syndicate and outlining the requirements for submitting a sworn translator’s application to Lebanese courts. She also discussed the challenges and opportunities in the legal translation field, stressing the importance of specialization and accuracy in this profession.

The lecture concluded with an interactive discussion between the students and Mrs. Sawaya. Students asked insightful questions about the profession, its requirements, and possible career paths.

This event is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to bridge academic knowledge with professional practice, and to give students valuable insights into the realities of the job market through the experience of industry professionals.
