UOB Hosts Research Study on Gender Division of Domestic Work

On March 27, 2025, the Sociology Program at the University of Balamand organized a critical research study titled "Reconsidering the Gender Division of Domestic Work in Light of the Decline in Domestic Worker Employment", in collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Foundation. The study aimed to raise awareness about the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 5, which focuses on achieving gender equality by 2030.

The study highlighted the significant disparity in unpaid domestic and care labor between men and women in Lebanon, shedding light on its impact on gender dynamics and family structures. The event engaged students, faculty, and staff, who learned about these issues and their implications for everyday life.

Sociology, psychology, and political science students took part in a question-and-answer session with the researchers, deepening their understanding of the topic.

This event is part of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences' ongoing efforts to promote awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and provide students with valuable academic and practical development opportunities.
