Dean Faculty of Health Sciences

The Faculty of Health Sciences currently has five departments/programs: Medical Laboratory Sciences, Nursing, Nutritional Sciences, Public Health, and Community Engagement. The Department of Optometry was recently approved by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and will be formally launched in September 2025. The Faculty continues to distinguish itself by its competitive academic programs offered on three campuses (Al Kurah, Beirut, and Souk El Gharb), vibrant student body, and accomplished cadre of faculty, dedicated staff, and a large number of clinical partners serving the population of Lebanon.

FHS aims to achieve accreditation of all academic programs. Nutrition received candidacy accreditation from ACEND in February 2025. Nursing received unconditional accreditation for the BSN and MSN programs from ACEN in May 2025. Public Health preapplication was approved by CEPH and the department is currently preparing the self-study. The MLS department has opted to seek accreditation by a German accrediting body. New certificate programs in Health Informatics and Climate Change and Health were launched and an interdisciplinary PhD program was approved and awaiting MEHE formal approval. FHS is placing more emphasis on faculty research and scholarly productivity and as such the Center of Excellence in Health Research was launched, which includes a large number of intra-and extramurally funded projects. We have also created an International Advisory Board with renowned universities from Europe, US, and Australia.

Students remain our core business at FHS. Our marketing strategy for student recruitment at the undergraduate and graduate levels continues to be a major priority. A large number of schools were virtually visited and social media platforms were created to disseminate information on our academic programs and provide potential students the possibility to interact with faculty members and fellow students. Merit scholarships and financial aid for all students have rapidly grown over the past years, resulting in improvements in student enrollment and retention.

We strive to update this website on a regular basis to include information on new academic programs and certificates/courses of relevance to the community. We will be featuring faculty research, scholarly activities, and impactful community projects. UOB FHS will continue to be committed to excellence in academia and in remaining the leader in education, research, and service in this part of the world.
